Description:
This joint SWSi Metro Assist and Chester Hill Neighbourhood Centre program
gives an introduction to providing a person-centred approach to care for people
who may be aging, have a disability and/or require assistance. This role could
be in the community and/or residential setting. The program is made up of three components;
1.
Classes
covering the mentioned subjects,
2.
Weekly
visits to Aged Care facilities (Aged care visitor volunteer) and
3.
Foundation
Skills classes. Completion of all three components will enable a pathway into Certificate
III in Individual Support. Participants will gain a range of academic,
technical and procedural knowledge, as well as demonstration in a work
environment based on the concepts and practices required to provide
person-centred support.
