This short course will put participants on the path to start a small business. It will build their:
·         confidence to plan and start a business
·          help them acquire useful information and skills while preparing students for further training.

This short course will also provide student support services such as; learning and business pathway planning, English language, literacy and numeracy support,
community market experience and networking opportunities.

UWSCollege still has places left in the Skillmax Jobseekers Course running at Westmead campus beginning 3rd August. This course is free for eligible Skilled Migrants. Below is some more information about the course and eligibility criteria. Skillmax – A job-seekers course for skilled migrants

Course 1
Commencing :                  Monday 3rd August 2015
Days and times:                Every MondayTuesday and Wednesday, 9:30am – 3:00pm
Concluding:                       Wednesday 3rd September 2015
Location:                           WESTMEAD – Building J, 158 Hawkesbury Road, Westmead.


As per our previous courses, 2015 Skillmax courses will help students to develop job search strategies for the Australian employment market.

Course outline 
·        Developing a greater awareness of workplace culture and trends in the Australian labour market
·        Finding your fit in your field of expertise
·        Developing a career portfolio including your résumé and cover letter
·        Strategies to identify employment opportunities
·        Preparing for the job interview
·        Career management skills
·        Marketing yourself effectively

The eligibility requirements for this course are detailed below and on the attached flyer:
Candidates must
·         Be a permanent Australian resident
·         Have overseas qualifications
·         Be seeking work in their field of expertise
·         Have an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher

  • Employment/Job Seeking Training/Workshops:
Step Into Work Program: This six week course is for women who would like to find meaningful paid work. The course is led by professional volunteers with expertise in recruitment, training and human resources as well as stress management.
Participants will be helped to set goals; develop a professional resume, write an application letter and practice interview questions.
Starts Wednesday 29th July 10.00-12.30. Childcare available.
